There’s a constant hustle and bustle around Melbourne, intensified by the sun and warm weather. As summer approaches, the hermits come out of hiding and winter hibernation subsides. A spring day in Melbourne has endless possibilities for adrenaline seekers, lazy bones and everyone in between.

  1. Ride a bicycle along the beach from Port Melbourne to Brighton. If you don’t own a bike Melbourne Bike Share has rows of bicycles for hire at 50 locations across the city. Daily or yearly memberships available.
  2. Wander through the South Melbourne or Queen Victoria markets. South Melbourne’s dim sims are to die for and Queen Victoria’s stalls are ideal for souvenirs.
  3. Café-hop. With numerous graffiti-lined lanes boasting gorgeous baked goods and superb coffee, spend the day sampling treats across the town!
  4. Sky-dive your way to a perfect landing on Elwood’s foreshore fields. The view of Port Phillip Bay will be breathtaking…literally!
  5. Walk or jog the 5km track around Albert Park. Bring a picnic for the end and enjoy the lake-front city views.
  6. Laze away the day soaking up the sun in the city’s botanic gardens. Bring a book and hunker down for the afternoon.

  17. Go on a photo expedition. With the quirky art, modern and historic architecture, and eclectic communities, walk, bike or drive through the city and try to capture Melbourne through a lens.
  18. Hang out in Federation Square. It’s always a hub of activity and great for people watching.
