Kuma Kaaru, meaning “One Blood” in Kaurna, is an Aboriginal-owned cultural performance group founded in 2008 by Jack Kanya Kudnuitya Buckskin.
Based on Kaurna Yarta (Land), they specialize in traditional Aboriginal dance, storytelling, and ceremonies that connect land, spirit, sea, and skies.
Their services include Welcome to Country speeches, Smoking Ceremonies, and a variety of traditional dances such as Marni Tuwila (Welcome) Dance, Kaali (Boomerang) Dance, Nantu/Tarnta (Kangaroo) Dance, and Makanthi (Shake-a-leg show off) Dance.
Kuma Kaaru has performed at prominent events like WOMADelaide and the Adelaide Oval, and offers cultural awareness training, workshops, and tours to promote understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal culture.
